Joann Kumiega
Pre Physical Therapy
Since childhood, my heart has been for teaching and helping others. To that end, I have spent the last several years in pursuit of a degree in physical therapy. I knew I was on the right track during one of the first clinical practice sessions of my massage therapy training. I was very nervous beforehand but shortly into the session I knew, beyond a doubt, that manual therapy was the work I was meant to do. Having that confirmation early on has given me the fortitude to persevere through setbacks and obstacles along the journey because I know that it is the only path for me.
Through academic tutoring and massage instruction I have been able to combine the two things I am most passionate about: teaching and the human body. I have also been fortunate to experience the satisfaction of pursuing these passions daily as I serve and educate my clients as a Licensed Massage
Therapist. My short-term goal is to gain admission to a well-respected doctor of physical therapy program. Long-term, I plan to hone my skills as a DPT both at home and abroad. Ultimately, I endeavor to use the wealth of information and skill I procure to foster the next generation of aspiring therapists and empower my patients to be masters of their wellness.
